Sunday 26th February - Emerald Ace


Emerald Ace is Nottingham's very own rubber faced burlesque eccentric.

A performer since late 2005 Emerald specialises in character based and often comedic acts. Emerald's acts most commonly involve face-pulling, manic running around and comedy flailing, served up alongside a kicky soundtrack.


Emerald has performed throughout the UK, including The Wet Spot in Leeds, The Bluestocking Lounge in Swansea, Dr Sketchy's throughout the UK and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Emerald will be talking to us about her wonderful self, about characterisation and act creation, touching on areas such as how she creates a character, music selection and costuming for character.

Lynn (Kiku Boutique) - Corsetry

The lovely Lynn from Kiku Boutique in Manchester is coming to speak to the group about Corsetry.

Lynn will be speaking about the history of corsetry, how it has stayed in fashion through the years and the popularity of corsetry amongst the burlesque scene.

Lynn will be brining samples with her from the boutique and showing the different types and shapes of corsets along with showing the correct way of lacing.

Sunday 29th April 

Janine Hewitt - The Sempstress - Historical Clothing 

 

Jannine will be speaking to the group about her work making and researching historically accurate garments from 1600's to 1950's.

Jannine makes corsets raging in date from 1700s - 1830s, hoop skirts, Victorian skirts along with complete outfits. 

All of Jannine's pieces are based on those researched from websites,
books and museum pieces. Along with making these garments Jannine also makes patters/designs vintage and modern garments. 

Jannine will be brining her work to the NWBS for a talk and demonstration of the skilled garments she has made, and will be available to answer questions that you may have.
